BOYS' SOCCER, 2011-12

MINARETS PULLS PAST FC--Feb. 1
For a non-league match, the Eagles traveled to the home of the Minarets Mustangs, Feb. 1.

From the moment the whistle blew it was apparent the game was going to be close. Both teams had numerous opportunities to score, but none found their way past the keepers as the score remained 0-0 at half.

"After we shut them out the first half we realized we were equally matched against them," Jennings said. "So then it's like we weren't trying as hard and we slacked off some because we thought they weren't going to score."

However, the Mustangs found a rhythm to knock in three goals and ultimately win 3-1. FC's only goal was by senior captain Austin Rurik on a fast break late in the second half.

Senior Tae Min Oh says he was discouraged by this years result against the Mustangs as last season they beat them.

"I was really discouraged because we easily won the game against them last year, so it didn't make any sense why we lost to them this year," Oh said.

Oh says that in spite of the loss he looks forward to the next game where he has one goal: Win.

"I would says winning is the only goal for the season," Oh said. "I'm getting tired of losing games and this time it would be great to win a league game."

The Eagles will next travel to play Riverdale, Feb. 3.

Minarets game intensity

When we played at Minarets we seemed so confident. If we played with more intensity that game, we would have won.
