Instead of a regular worship time, the first Thursday chapel was an assembly promoting VIP Cards, Aug. 16. The junior high and high school students were greeted by Jeremiah Braun who explained the VIP Card and encouraged students to take part in the fundraiser.

The VIP Card is used as a credit card form of a coupon. There are various places where the card is accepted, and the costumer may receive discounts on purchases. Grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, pharmacies and even theme parks will give price cuts to card holders.

To enhance student involvment in the event, they include awards and prizes for each card sold. The accolades offered are, concert tickets, coupons, a pizza party and gift cards up to $100 for those who meet the requirements. The prizes and standards are set to further inspire and encourage the students to sell the product.

Braun, who lives in Fresno and is stationed in Las Vegas, travels around to promote the card. He once attended at FC and coached volleyball many years ago.

"I always love coming back to this campus, it brings back so many memories," Braun said. "I had really good times here and am so happy I get to talk to you guys {students} today."

At the assembly the students were notified of the expectations and guidelines for the fundraiser.

"Today I walked through what the card is, and explaining how it is useful to families and businesses," Braun said. "I was excited to get to talk to the students to share all the new features and tell them how they can save money."

This year there are some new and interesting features on the card that everyone can benefit from.

"The movies, every ticket is four dollars off, which is the best deal you can find anywhere,' Braun said. "There is also Disneyland and Lego land, and if you use the card at a restaurant, it can save you quite a bit of money."

Braun encourages students to sell their cards because there is an award that tops all others, if you sell the most.

"This year, the top five students that sell the most {VIP Cards} will receive concert tickets, and be able to pick two friends and will get to enjoy the show from a suit in the Savemart Center," Braun said.

Most students left the assembly with a packet containing five VIP Cards, coupons, and a sheet explaining the process and prizes.
