[List staff]
Position: Editor-in-chief
Joined the Feather: 2010
This year, though only a junior, I am serving as Editor-in-Chief of The Feather Online. Journalism is my passion (no question about that one). And my goal is to become a well-known multimedia journalist.
But, in high school I must develop and hone these skills. I will be accomplishing this by pushing myself in my own journalism skills as well as testing myself by teaching others to master them themselves.
I also have tried to delve into social media as much as possible. Recently creating a Twitter, my own YouTube channel and a LinkedIn profile. The Feather staff will also be encouraged to develop their social media abilities and learn how to network.
After attending the Arizona State University (ASU) Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication for their High School Journalism Institute (SJI), my passion was rekindled. Studying for two weeks under some of the most inspiring journalism professors, I learned many new skills that I pledged to bring back to my staff.
Attending that workshop also allowed me to see exactly what my life as an actual ASU Walter Cronkite student would be like. So far, this university is my number one choice.
While losing 17 seniors will be tough for The Feather staff, I believe that we can be a small but mighty force to succeed just as much as last year. The beginning of the year has started well, and we hope to continue on throughout the entire year.
I hope that I will lead the staff this year in the best way that I can. I will strive to push each Feather staff member to reach their full potential while also taking time for fun. I'm looking forward to this year with great expectations along with the memories we will make together as a staff.
