LETTER: Appreciate cultural traditions

Dear editor:

I want to thank Gigi Thao for giving us a glimpse into Hmong cultural life (Jan. 12 opinions article). I liked how you shared from your heart the process you went through learning to appreciate your cultural traditions and ceremonies.

Through your account of that struggle, we learn that it's sometimes necessary to wrestle through those things that at first seem uncomfortable to us. We can all take away a fresh perspective on those things we consider "foreign."

I always enjoy your thoughtful and well written articles. I hope you keep up the pursuit of writing. Well done!
