The varsity boy?s basketball team played against the faculty on May 18. Although the boys lost 51-46, they enjoyed the game.
"I didn't get a chance to play last year," junior Kedric Anderson, left, said. "So I was looking forward to competing against the teachers on a Friday night in front of the student body. The best part was when (Robert) Foshee was on a breakaway lay-up and I chased him down and blocked his shot."
Volleyball coach Larry Orender, right, put his jumping skills to use when blocking rebounds. When he shot free throws, he 'set' like a volleyball player.
"Besides being living proof that volleyball doesn't always translate to basketball," Orender said. "I had a great time playing the students; they are a tough team."
The 23rd annual game had a usual ending and the varsity team has never defeated the faculty. Some say it reminds them of the Harlem Globetrotters' early successes.
"I think the faculty got a few extra points thanks to some generous scorekeeping," Anderson said. "But we had a great time anyways."
