BOYS' SOCCER, 2011-12

CLOVIS WEST, ROOSEVELT BEST FC--Dec. 3
At the second day of the Sierra Tournament, FC first faced off against Clovis West's JV in the morning, Dec. 3.

The Eagles were within reach of squeezing out a win, but West knocked in two goals, winning 2-0. An hour later the Eagles took on Roosevelt's JV. About ten minutes into the first half, Roosevelt played a ball into the top corner of the goal to go up 1-0. Despite numerous chances, FC failed to find the back of the net and ultimately lose 1-0.

Senior captain Austin Rurik says with each game the team is adjusting more and more to this year's game plan.

"We were able to transition from our game plan we had last year to our new one that involves more possession this year a little more today," Rurik said. "Overall we need to work on creating opportunities on goal because we need to score to win."

Head coach Matt Markarian, says under the direction of his seniors they will be able to continue to build on their skills.

"We are improving slowly," Markarian said. "We have a lot of new players and it just takes time to find lineups that work and for those line ups to mesh together. I am confident that our Senior leadership will lead us to a successful season though."

FC finished the tournament 0-4.

Check back later for a full game summary.

The Eagles will next play in the Fowler Lions Tournament against Kingsburg and Caruthers, Dec. 8.

Stay strong!

I agree with Austin; the team is learning to play together with new players and new strategies. Keep it up boys!
