GIRLS' SOFTBALL, 2011-12

After being defeated by Riverdale High School, April 10, FC was eager for a win against the Caruthers Blue Raiders for their second league game of the season. Despite the Eagles' effort, the Blue Raiders defeated FC by 10 points, 15-5, April 17.

Although sophomore Jenna Weimer usually pitches for the team, senior Nicole Hensley stepped up and assisted Weimer. In the bottom of the fourth inning, freshman Gaby Siqueiros hit a home run.

According to sophomore Illeana See, she is proud of her teammates for their effort. See believes that the team will improve if they are willing to work hard as one and relax instead of focusing too much on the game.

"Defensively, we need to pull it together as a team. If we are willing to help each other, our performance would be so much better."--Jenna Weimer, 14

"Yesterday's game was tough," See said. "We made some mistakes, but I feel like we all were really trying. We also worked really hard as a team. I think we need to just loosen up and not be so tense. We play better when we are relaxed and completely focused."

Weimer commends her fellow teammates, Siqueiros and Hensley for their accomplishment during the game. She is fond of all of her teammates for their effort.

"Nicole did a great job pitching and stepping in when the coaches called her in," Weimer said. "Gaby hit an amazing home run and did pretty well at bat. Besides Nicole and Gaby, we all tried really hard so I am proud of our team."

According to Weimer, containing positive attitude and encouraging each other will benefit the team tremendously.

"Defensively, we need to pull it together as a team," Weimer said. "If we are willing to help each other, our performance would be so much better. Personally, I need to not get so frustrated with myself; I definitely need to be more encouraging."

The Eagles will next play against
Fowler High School, April 19.
