My name is Brittany Lauber, and I am a senior in the last stretch of my high school education. Last year I was a staff writer, and now I am now back with the conclusion of Academic Decathlon. This semester in journalism I hope to better my interviewing skills and refine my writing.
Currently, as I wrap up my final college applications, I am still attempting to determine where exactly I will go in the upcoming years. In the meantime, the future remains something of a mystery.
Last semester I played volleyball and am now in the midst of preparations for the softball season. Hopefully our team can improve from last year.
Despite my involvement in athletics, I am a geek at heart. My true passion lies in the written word; I read almost constantly, picking up everything from Greek philosophy to novels labeled ?children?s books.?
I am a huge fan of the fantasy and science fiction genre. This could be seen from the briefest glance in my room, which boasts Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings posters as well as two collectible light sabers.
In addition to reading, I spend much of my spare time in internal philosophic inquiry. I have a keen sense of curiosity and ask an inordinate number of questions. Socrates is one of my heroes and I attempt to live by his statement, ?The unexamined life is not worth living.?
In short, I am in the process of trying to understand this crazy world in which we live and find my place in it. I do not know much, but I do have a few words of advice: Draco dormiens nunquam titilandus.
