The 29th annual special edition Kids Day newspaper benefit for Valley Children’s Hospital takes place the early morning, March 8.
The FC leadership team will cover the corner of Alluvial and Cedar at 4 a.m. The Feather will be hosting the corner of Alluvial and Maple at 5:30 a.m. Students will be selling papers from about 4 – 9 a.m. The combined staff hopes to sell over 300 papers and collect over $2,000.
Various Feather writers interviewed the Kids Day celebrity team at the corner of Blackstone and Shaw. They interviewed Police Chief Jerry Dyer, Fresno State football coach Tim Deruyter, Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, Fresno Bee staffers and many more.
Naima Gutierrez was chosen to be the ambassador child for Kids Day. Gutierrez was diagnosed with cancer at two and a half years of age. She was diagnosed with a rhabdoid tumor of the kidney. With the help of Valley Children’s Hospital, she undergone seven rounds of chemotherapy and she is still able to dance and sing.
