Eighth grade students end their promotion with a group prayer, May 23. Parents surround the graduating students and join in prayer.
FC holds it’s junior high promotion, celebrating the promotion of 45 students apart of the class of 2021. Family and friends quickly fill the People’s Church Auditorium to support their eighth grader.
Angelica Camacho was remembered and missed throughout the night. A gown pinned with a corsage rested in her assigned seat, dedicated to her.
Jayson Neumann was the night’s guest speaker. After his speech, Isaac Hwang, junior high student body president, began his own speech. Huang and Caleigh Alday, CJSF president, present their own “Responce from the Class” speeches.
JH history teacher Hallie Rojeski presents the California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) awards. Students participating in the program receive a pin which is to be worn on their gown when they graduate high school.
Kim Castro, JH English teacher, awards Issac Huang with Academic Award of the Year and Addison Schultz with Citizenship Award of the Year. President’s Excellence in Education is won by eight students and presented by Katie Reneau, JH math teacher.
After junior high choir sings “This Little Light of Mine” presentation of the class of 2017 begins. Terry Richards, JH science teacher, announces each graduate as they receive their promotion certificate from principle Amy Deffenbacher.
To conclude the night, parents are asked to join in the Circle of Prayer. Parents take turns praying over the eager class as they end their junior high experience and head into high school.
Students’ family and friends join them with a cookie reception following the promotion.
