Directed by Susan Ainley, the group will travel to New York the week of Apr. 9-16.
The group of 74 parents and students will spend the beginning of the trip touring, experiencing sights and culture of the city.
The campus choir will practice with a mass choir with students from all around the country, April 14. They will perform the next day, April 15, in Carnegie Hall. The mass choir will be directed by Dr. Rollo Dilworth, a name familiar to FC choir students. Earlier in the year, Dillworth directed and adjudicated at a local festival held by Fresno Pacific University which both ensemble and HS choir attended.
FC choral groups earned the opportunity to join this “Heritage Honor” choir because of their outstanding performance and ratings during their Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim last year.
In the remaining time, before they leave for NYC, choir perfects music that they will be performing. Ainley gives tips and tricks to students on how to properly prepare for this trip as she took the same trip with the women’s ensemble, “Bellezza,” two years earlier. Ainley suggests students bring enough money for meals and to be prepared to walk a lot. The previous group left New York having clocked in 45 miles of walking.
