Campus students prepare to leave campus to serve the community for FC Serve Day, Feb. 29, 2017.

Students and teachers served at: Habitat for HumanityWesley United ChurchReading HeartDiscovery Center cleanup, Raintree Convalescent, ReStore (Habitat for Humanity), Graffiti Abatement and Community Food Bank.

While high school served the community, JH served on the campuses of FC and Peoples Church.

Rather than attending school on Thursday, March 1, the junior high and high school participated in the fifth annual serve day. Junior high stayed at FC and helped out around campus, while high school was deployed around the city at six different locations.

Junior Kyle Friesen strives to cast life in a new light through his work developing iPhone entertainment apps and aspires to be a filmmaker, plans to attend USC film school. Kyle believes his participation on The Feather and its creative environment will grow his filmmaking talents. As a football and baseball athlete, Kyle learned the importance of trust and teamwork on the field. He hopes to bring his work ethic and angle to The Feather team to produce films which capture the essence of high school. Volunteering on the tech team of Peoples Church and serving as a mentor in the Brother to Brother youth program provides him with a valuable, unique service perspective.
