‘The Nuthouse,’ Fresno Christian’s student section, officially opens the 2018-19 year with the first home football game, Sept 14. ‘Neon Night’ glowed with tones of fluorescent pink, yellow and green, as the students cheered the Eagles’, 55-7, win over the Kings Christian Crusaders.
Promoting a theme night encourages student involvement and helps The Nuthouse stand out. This night student leadership hands out bandanas and glowing wands to all participating high schoolers. The next home game will be against Frazier Mountain High (Lebec) on homecoming, Oct. 5. The theme of the night will be ‘school spirit night’. The final pre-playoff home game of the season is ‘blackout night’, Oct. 19, and will be against Riverdale Christian High School.
Through cheering, chants and energetic music, freshman Edward Fikse took in his first Nuthouse and 5th Quarter experience.
“I really enjoyed the game,” Fiske said; “it was really fun, and a good bonding experience with some of the other students in my class. Fifth Quarter was awesome; they played really good 80s music and it was fun to see everyone come together and have a good time!”
Through social media the student section earned the attention of The Fresno Bee Sports who had been engaging all night with The Feather Twitter feed. The article, “What song gets a student section hyped? At one school, it takes an oldie but a goodie,” highlights the evening.
Thank you Fresno Bee.
