Fresno Christian homecoming week has officially begun. This year is Disney-themed, ‘Homecoming Happily Ever After’. Throughout the week leadership will be putting on princess pageants, the royal battle and multiple dress up days. Spirit points will be awarded each day for participation culminating in the big event on Friday night, Oct 5.

Get to know your court candidates personally. This year’s freshman candidates are Makayla Davila, Ashley Logan and Emily Penberthy. With a series of unique questions, The Feather introduces each candidate to help students narrow their vote. Voting will take place Thursday, Oct. 4. The winner will be announced during halftime at the 34th annual Fresno Christian homecoming game, Oct. 5. Gates open at 6 p.m. with concessions. Princess candidates introduced at 6:30 p.m. before the game.

Davila has attended FC for three years, and hopes to attend Fresno State where she aspires to become a business owner.

If you were a Disney character, who would you be and why?

Anna (from Frozen), because my hair is like hers and I love how brave she is. I would also do anything for my sisters as well.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? 

Hawaii

Who is your celebrity crush?

Ashley Logan strives to have the courage and kindness of Cinderella.

Logan has attended FC for three years, and hopes to attend Fresno State where she can get her education in elementary school teaching.

If you were a Disney character, who would you be and why?

I would want to be Cinderella because I would like to be like her to have courage, and be kind. Those are two things I strive to be.

If money was flowing… What car would you buy yourself?

A Jeep

Who is your personal hero? Why?

My hero would be my mom because she is always there for me and is always demonstrating, encouraging, and teaching me how to spread God’s love.

From behind the lens, photojournalist Kaylie Clem, ‘19, broadens her entire worldview as she creatively captures transformative images. Timidly moving through her first experiences as a photographer, Clem discovered a true passion and confidence in her ability to document emotions, events and news through strategic imagery. Continuing on The Feather team this year allows her to develop stronger dynamic writing to accompany her photographs. After high school, Clem plans on attending a private Christian university, majoring in teacher education and minoring in photography. Volunteering as a mentor to junior highers through Sister-to-Sister program and as a Calvin Crest counselor, Clem enjoys encouraging her younger peers.
