The group of female worship team members, with the band name, ‘Deb and the Destroyers’, poses after playing in chapel, Jan. 29.

As the Fresno Christian campus high school worship team continues to introduce new songs and bands in chapel, the all girl band, ‘Deb and the Destroyers’ leads a song, Jan. 29.

The band represents the entirety of the girls on the worship team, many of them playing instruments that they had never before attempted to play. The team leads the song, ‘This is Living’ by Hillsong Young and Free, featuring a rap solo by junior, Deborah Ingerson. In the months leading up to the Tuesday chapel, the girls spent time practicing and rehearsing the song, all while learning and nailing down the instruments they would play.

Junior, Lindsay Weimer, learned to play the electric guitar for the girl band chapel. Only ever singing before, Weimer enjoyed the new experience of playing an instrument.

“Learning electric guitar for this chapel was a stretch for me”, Weimer said. “I hadn’t ever played any instrument before, so learning guitar took a lot for me to figure it out. In the end, it was fun to get to do this, and I can’t wait to get to do this again!”

With the preparation for the girl band chapel over, the worship team begins to work on introducing new songs and bands. Stay tuned for the newest updates from the worship team.
