For $40 a person, attendees receive a bus ride to Santa Cruz. For an upgraded experience, students pay $75 for the bus ride and a Boardwalk pass, giving them unlimited access to Boardwalk rides and attractions.

The Boardwalk offers many attractions for all guests including miniature golf, arcades, laser tag, bowling and rides. The rides will be open from 12-5 p.m. for anyone who has the Boardwalk pass.

Sophomore Bella Rodgriguez looks forward to this year’s Sadies with her date Avery Walters, ’22. The duo plans to go as ketchup and mustard and they look forward to the rides and excitement.

“I’m excited to spend time with Avery and I’m looking forward to just having a fun day,” Rodriguez said. “I asked after school and my sign said ‘It would be really sweet if you went to Sadie’s with me’ and then I gave him M&M’s.”

In the following podcast, Kyler Garza interviews Braden Bell on this year’s Sadies planning.

Senior and ASB president Braden Bell reported that the idea for Santa Cruz came from the leadership class and the student body chose between the Boardwalk and a Fresno State football game. Bell plans to attend with senior Danielle Foster as Wendy and Squints from The Sandlot.

“So this year we chose the Boardwalk after giving a few suggestions as a leadership class,” Bell said. “We sent out a poll to the entire student body and that was the final vote for where Sadies should be this year.

Each year, student leadership chooses a new place to attend for Sadies. In years past, students have traveled to Six Flags Magic Mountain and Great America.

Junior Bryson Graham plans to attend with junior Paige Provost as Troy and Vanessa from the High School Musical. Graham looks forward to spending time with his friends at the beach and enjoying all of the Boardwalk’s activities as well.

“I’m excited to go to the Boardwalk because I haven’t been there in a while,” Graham said. “I’m looking forward with spending time with my friends and going to all the rides.”

First time going to the coast, Karoline Sandberg, ’22, hopes to go on as many attractions as the Boardwalk offers. Going with junior Arundeep Singh as Bob Sheldon and Cherry Valance from The Outsiders, Sandberg shares her excitement for what the day has to offer.

“I’m really looking forward to the rollercoasters; I love them,” Sandberg said. “It’s gonna be so great to spend time with my friends. I’m also excited about going to the boardwalk for my first time and trying all of the food.”
