Local store shelves are wiped out due to the coronavirus outbreak, March 19. Be sure to check your local store hours as many have changed their opening and closing times.

‘Shelter in place’ order affects jobs, store hours, schools across nation

As COVID-19 continues to spread all over the world, many countries have started taking precautions to isolate the virus, March 20.

Fresno City council issued an effective shelter in place in hopes of preventing the spread of the virus, March 19. The city is asking residents to stay home and away from others as much as possible

California, along with many other states have closed schools, postponed concerts, sports, extra curricular activities, big group outings, school dances and graduations. All essential businesses are asked to close by Sunday, March 22, and shelter in place.

People have turned to stores and supermarkets to stock up on day-to-day supplies. Many stores have begun to sell out of certain items such as toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, canned food items, easy oven meals, bottled water and perishables.

Vallarta Supermarkets, Target, Walmart and other stores have announced that they will have special hours.  open everyday from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. for seniors (65+), pregnant women and for those disabled to try and help give them the food they need before it is gone. Target has also saved the first hour of shopping for the elderly and health concerned people every Wednesday.

Seniors and those with compromised health who live in the central Valley are also offered special hours from Save Mart Supermarkets.
