Campus student Faith Monroy (left) and her co-worker Riley Ledbetter continue to work at Chick-Fil-A during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, businesses, schools and churches across the nation are asked to switch regular activity to alternatives in order to keep the community safe and healthy, April 4.

Campus student, Faith Monroy, ’21,  joined the Chick-Fil-A team in early June 2019, participating as the cow on ‘Cow Appreciation Day’, July. 14. Along with being apart of the Chick-Fil-A staff, Monroy also involves herself on the varsity Cheer team, California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and is a journalist for The Feather

Monroy shares her experience of managing work and online school responsibilities during the COVID-19 stay-in-place mandate.

“Management of time has become a big leading opportunity this year,” Monroy said. “With my commitments to cheer and work, I set my schedule up to work two days out of the week and every Saturday.”

Though her work and school have changed, Monroy feels at peace with her situation and benefits with the opportunity to work at her own pace.

I like the new alternative way of school,” Monroy said. “If I’m persistent with my classes at the beginning of the week, I’ll usually finish before the end which frees up time for me to relax and catch up on my shows.”

Chick-Fil-A has stopped all dine-in but continues to serve it’s customers through drive thru and curbside pickup via their mobile app or door dash. The workers wash their hands frequently and is taking every precaution to make sure the staff and their guests are safe.

Monroy encourages students to take this time to appreciate the little things and make the most of it by trying something new.
