The campus softball program has completely turned around this year. Going 1-21 overall during the 2017 season and 9-10 last season, the Eagles finished as undefeated East Sierra League champions with an overall record of 16-2. However, the Eagles season came to a close after losing in the second round of playoffs to Foothill, 5-1, May 9.
The Feather Online traveled to Anaheim for the National High School Journalism Convention, April 25-27, with various sessions for students to go and learn. Over the next few days I was able to attend multiple sessions such as covering tragedy, covering controversy, some of our feather staffers sessions and succeeding in sports journalism. I was most eager to attend succeeding in sports journalism but had no idea what to expect.
The Fresno Christian baseball season was ended last year with a loss in the first round of East Sierra League playoffs against the Roosevelt Rough Riders. The Eagles look to get back to the postseason coming off a record last spring, going 12-9 overall. With incoming freshmen catchers and pitchers, the boys look to grow and compete with new talent.
The Fresno Christian boys tennis team is determined to go deep in playoffs this season according to head coach Robert Foshee. Runners-up in the valley title last season, the Eagles look to return and successfully take the title this year. Last year the team went 9-3 in league play and 11-3 overall. The Fresno Christian Eagles had their first East Sierra League game on April 29 at Summit Charter. The Eagles came in with a record of 9-4, hungry for their first league victory. Sam Swearingen, ‘22, threw for seven innings with seven strikeouts and no hits allowed, giving the Eagles their first league win and with a no-hitter. Fresno Christian shut out the Summit Charter Bears, 22-0, on the road making a statement for the rest of the league to see.
