BREAKING: School community comes together for National Day of Prayer, May 3

Whether opening convocation seems it like happened yesterday or yesteryear, the 2018 National Day of Prayer is here. Grades kindergarten through 12th will meet for the final of two all-school chapels, May 3. FCS has a long-standing tradition of assembling for prayer and worship. As in past years, students, teachers and parents will meet in Peoples Church's main auditorium during normal chapel times for worship and prayer. ASB Chaplain Erin Wilson shares why she anticipates the National Day of Prayer.

BREAKING: Students prepare for upcoming Night of the Stars (NOTS)

As the second semester continues, students and staff look forward to special events that will be taking place. Night of the Stars (NOTS), is Fresno Christian's formal. NOTS is an event that has been going on at the school for a long time and is normally enjoyed by staff and students.

BREAKING: Choir attends Cal Poly Spring Choral Festival

Fresno Christian elementary, junior high, and high school choirs all attend the Cal Poly Central Coast Spring Choral Festival, March 22. Junior high and high school meet at 6:30 a.m. and return by 8 p.m. Students begin traveling before sunrise to Cal Poly for the concert at 12 p.m. Choirs from all over the state attend and showcase their vocal talents. According to the official website, the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center sees between 35-50 schools each year, most of which are high schools (58%). Elementary students perform first in the lineup, performing at 10 a.m.  

BREAKING: Valentine’s Day concert returns for third year, Feb. 11.

The third annual Valentine’s Day concert will be held on February 11 at 7 p.m. in the Student Ministries Center. Both high school choral groups will sing a variety of love, breakup, and friendship songs celebrating the importance of romance and love.

BREAKING: First fishing club meeting, Feb. 7

Senior Matthew Sue brings a new, unique club to Fresno Christian. After meeting with principal Amy Deffenbacher for the approval, Sue is starting a campus fishing club. The club will first meet in Mrs. Foster's during lunch, Feb. 7. After that, they will meet the first Wednesday of every month.

PROMO: Apex fundraiser promotes fitness, leadership, character

TKs through sixth graders prepare for fun and games as they anticipate the third annual Apex Fun Run. Students come together to learn character lessons and win fun prizes in their classrooms as they await the glow-in-the-dark themed Fun Run on Jan. 18. Apex Fun Run crew arrived on campus on Jan 8, visiting classrooms and teaching core values to the students. They emphasize the acronym UNITED, which stands for being unique, no excuses, inspiring others, being teachable, empathizing, and doing their best. Evan Crayton, an Apex staff member, believes that lessons on character help kids to become better students, athletes, and individuals.

PROMO: Student leadership hosts annual stuffed animal drive

For the fifth year in a row, Fresno Christian will host a stuffed animal drive and Pajama Day, Dec. 15. Stuffed animals brought in will be donated to Valley Children's Healthcare. These stuffed animals will be given to patients that go through an operation or surgery. Used or dollar store stuffed animals will not be accepted.
